I signed up to a couple more autoresponder series from a couple of top marketers in a recent JV Giveaway type promotion.  I saw a product that looked good, I gave my email address, and clicked the link.  What happens next is an email is sent to me to confirm my email address.  An email is also sent to the email address on file with aweber, letting this top marketer that I just signed up to his/her list.  That marketer recently changed the email address that they had set up in their autoresponder to tell people that they no longer received emails at that address. So the email that is sent to the marketer is replied to by the email server telling me that I can’t contact this particular marketer using this means of communication any longer and that I should use their help desk. It is funny how people go from accessible to inaccessible in a few months…

So, what do we learn from this?  First, in aweber, you have the option of putting a FROM email address and a separate email address for the notifications.  If you are a smart marketer, you will use am email address for your notifications that is not going to bounce back to your prospect, because that is the surest way to lose your prospects’ trust.

In Internet Marketing, everyone who signs up for your autoresponder is a prospect until they purchase something from you.  So the more you inspire trust in you to the prospect, the better the chance of the prospect becoming a customer.  By making yourself appear available, you are more likely to inspire that trust.  But if you give the appearance of unavailability before the prospect has a chance to know more about you, they are less likely to stick around long enough to know more about you.

Avoiding this particular situation is easy, when you set up your autoresponder, you enter one email address as the FROM email address.  Next you choose a different email address for the notification  email, even if it is one that you will continuously dump.  You just want to make sure the emails do not bounce back to your prospects…

Armed with that knowledge, your can avoid seeming unavailable to you prospects, even if you really are!
